Elder Abuse Prevention Council

World Elder Abuse Awareness Day Event

World Elder Abuse Awareness Day was launched in 2006 by the International Network for Prevention of Elder Abuse and the World Health Organization of the United Nations.  Since its inception, communities around the world recognize WEAAD as an opportunity to raise awareness of abuse and neglect of older persons, by sharing information about the facts of elder abuse, the rights of older persons and promote resources and services to support senior’s safety and well-being in their communities.
